Pool group exercise classes are
lead by a lifeguard. The classes are $50.00 per month for three 1-hour
sessions. Provider referral is needed for exercise classes. Independent
pool exercise is $45 per month Swim lessons are available for all ages,
for pregnant women (with a provider referral) and for children
with special disabilities (with a provider referral). Cost varies
on programs and age. Sliding scale fee is offered for low-income. Summer
camp program for children 5-12 years of age include swim lessons, land
exercise, and nutrition education. Healthy snacks are provided. Provider
referrals are not needed. Cost range from $25.00 to $150.00 per child
for the eight week program. Summer camp is offered on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

The Bike Bakersfield program
visits local elementary schools to provide free bike safety class for
children. “Bike Kitchen” – you can donate a bike for repair or volunteer
for their 10 hour program to receive a bike. The program teaches the
basics of bike repair and maintenance. Ladies night – the second Tuesday
of each night is a course on general bike maintenance. The program
begins at 6:00 p.m. and is for ladies only. Bike Bakersfield meets at
Beach Park on the first Saturday of each month for a 12 mile bike ride.
The entire family is encouraged to come and enjoy the ride.

PAL provides assistance with homework and offers recreation through
various sports such as wrestling, boxing, basketball, football
etc. Students engage in art activities and have access to a game room. The
after school program is free and runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 –
6:00 p.m. The girls’ social development class is for junior and high
school girls. Girls meet once a week to learn about nutrition, sewing,
cooking and other activities.

Terrio Kids is an eight week program about nutrition, fitness, behavior
modification, and parent coaching. The program is for children 8 years of
age and upward. Classes are taught only in English. Clients are accepted
by a provider referral or with a prescription. Cost vary upon insurance
coverage. With no insurance, the program cost is $250.00 per month or
prepaid cost of $450.00 for eight weeks. Medical nutrition therapy with a
dietitian is available for diabetes. Accepted insurances: most
insurance are accepted except for Medical.
